The characteristics of leeks need fertilizer
Chives are perennial vegetables with strong adaptability to soil, loam and sandy loam are suitable, and leeks require a large amount of fertilizer. Annual leeks, the plants have not yet developed, need less fertilizer; 2 to 4-year-old leeks, strong tillering power, yield, and fertilization should be increased accordingly; 5-year-old leeks, due to multiple harvests for many years, soil fertility and plant growth are Has declined, and organic fertilizers need to be applied to improve soil fertility and prevent premature aging. Except for a large number of elements, the unique volatile odor components of chives all contain sulfur elements and are sulfur-loving crops.
Leek fertilization method
If leeks do not need to bloom and bear fruit, but only need to grow leaves, apply nitrogen fertilizers such as urea, calcium nitrate, etc. If you need to bloom and bear fruit, apply some phosphate and potassium fertilizers before flowering, such as plant ash, other decomposed fertilizers, etc.
In addition to the application of base fertilizer, leeks also need "knife top dressing", that is, top dressing 1 or 2 times after each harvest. Topdressing should be carried out 3 to 4 days after harvesting. It should be applied when the harvested wound heals and new leaves grow. Topdressing immediately after harvesting may cause fertilizer damage. The top dressing should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer and human feces and urine, which can be applied with water or ditched, and the feces rot in thin water to prevent maggot damage.
