From SeafoodNews on December 30th, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GSA) conducted a "change taste" survey of 3000 adult American consumers and 400 restaurant decision makers. Nearly one-third of the respondents said that they "Very" wants to eat less meat such as beef, pork and lamb. Instead, seafood tops the list with 39%, followed by poultry with 35%.

GSA pointed out that for people who are more concerned about seafood, the sustainability of the product and the eco-label of responsible production are the most concerned by consumers.

According to this study, 46% of American consumers have a good opinion of retail products with the Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) label, and 64% of consumers would choose seafood with the BAP label.

According to the GSA survey, 56% of catering service operators have a good impression of distributors who use the BAP label.

Millennials are part of the growing trend of seafood consumption. 58% of people eat seafood at least once a week, and 27% eat seafood at least once or twice a month. Millennials have the highest recognition of the BAP label and are environmentally friendly. The label has the highest degree of trust.

Research has confirmed that consumers value and believe that BAP certification is the guarantee of product quality.
