Thailand's Agricultural Exports To Grow By 17% in 2021, With Indian Market Growing Fastest

According to Thai media reports, on February 17, the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Economics Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, Santhanon, revealed that from January to December 2021, Thailand’s agricultural exports to the world market totaled 1.3 trillion baht, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 trillion baht. An increase of 17%; the trade surplus reached 813.693 billion baht. It is believed that Thailand's agricultural exports are expected to continue to grow in 2022.

 

Only in terms of agricultural trade between Thailand and ASEAN, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, the overall trade increased by 4.86%, with a trade volume of 422.754 billion baht; exports increased by 3.46 %, Thailand's trade volume was 171.355 billion baht.

 

In addition, Thailand's agricultural exports to countries that signed free trade agreements (excluding ASEAN countries) increased by 33.06%, with exports reaching 653.663 billion baht, and Thailand's trade surplus was 474.197 billion baht.

 

The fastest growing export markets are India, China, South Korea, New Zealand and Japan.
