Reported on August 25: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply of Nepal sent a letter to the Indian government on Wednesday, asking India to resume wheat exports to Nepal.

Since May 13, India has implemented a ban on wheat exports. As a result, Nepalese wheat flour has been affected by the shortage of raw materials and the retail price has risen by Rs 10 per kg.

There are 36 flour mills in Nepal. According to the Nepal Flour Mills Association, 1 million tonnes of wheat are expected to be needed this fiscal year. Domestic wheat production is about 350,000 tons, with the remainder mainly imported from India.
