How to grow aubergine on the balcony

I. Preparation work

Sowing seeds for seedlings

(1) Soak the seeds in warm water at 50-55°C for 15 minutes, then soak them in water for 10-12 hours, and after they have absorbed water and swollen, drain them and sow them again.

(2) before sowing will have prepared the nutrient soil into the pot, 3 to 4cm from the edge of the pot, the nutrient soil will be watered through, and when the soil is slightly dry will be seeds or soaked seeds sown in the container, interval 10 to 12cm is appropriate, after sowing covered with a layer of 1cm of fine soil.

(3) After sowing, the appropriate daytime temperature is 25-30°C and the night temperature is 14-22°C; after the seedlings have come out, the daytime temperature is 20-26°C and the night temperature is 12-18°C.

III. Potting

(1) Plants can be potted when they reach 3-4 leaves.

(2) Before potting the seedlings, wash the pot, place a tile or stone in the bottom hole of the pot, fill it with potting soil, 3 to 4cm from the rim, and dig a 5 to 6cm square pit in the middle.

3) First dig out the seedlings with a gardening spade at a position 5cm around the root system of the original pot and plant them into the prepared pot, planting them a little deeper than the original soil pile.

4) Bury the seedlings and water them well.

Daily management

(1) Water management: aubergines like a warm and humid environment. Water twice in the morning and twice in the evening during the growing season, and 2-3 times a day during high temperatures and drought.

(2) Fertilizer management: aubergine is well fertilized, in addition to the base fertilizer, usually thin fertilizer should be applied diligently, and it does not hurt to apply thin fertilizer every day.

3) When the first branching of the eggplant occurs at flowering, keep the fork under the door eggplant and erase the rest of the axillary buds. After harvesting, remove the old leaves near the ground.

4) Remove the top buds when four spikes of fruit are present and wipe out the forks on the main stem and the 1st and 2nd branches at any time.

5) After the leaves have grown densely, remove the large, yellowish old leaves; when removing the leaves, cut out any long, overly dense, dead, diseased or insect-ridden branches.

(6) If necessary, thin the flowers and fruits, generally leaving 1 to 5 fruits per inflorescence.

V. Notes

1) Do not allow water to accumulate in the pot.

(2) Generally, the harvesting period is when the sepals are connected to the fruit and the white part of the peel is very small, and the harvesting should be done in the morning or evening to prevent breaking the branches.
