Sweet potato has developed root system, strong absorption of fertilizer, and requires a large amount of fertilizer. Therefore, fertilization should be applied scientifically and economically. So, how to fertilize sweet potato cultivation? What should be paid attention to in the fertilization process?

Let's find out together!

How to fertilize sweet potatoes?

1. Base fertilizer

As for basal fertilizer, everyone knows that it is a fertilization before sowing. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer. Base fertilizer accounts for 60% to 80% of the entire fertilization process, which shows the importance of base fertilizer. Apply 3,000 to 5,000 kg of organic fertilizer per mu of land, and at the same time add 3.5 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 20 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, 7 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 50 kg of superphosphate. Under normal circumstances, more than half of the base fertilizer is in the lower layer, and the other half is concentrated in the lower ridge or in the hole fertilization after the ridge is raised.

2. The sweet potato base fertilizer adopts concentrated deep fertilization and layered combination

Deep fertilization can allow the roots to be distributed in a larger amount in the deeper soil. The deep soil has high fertility and sufficient water, which can increase the yield. Generally, the method of layering can greatly promote the development of roots after germination of sweet potatoes, which can meet the absorption and growth of sweet potato roots, and is conducive to the formation of long roots in the early stage.

3. Precautions for applying chlorine fertilizer

Regarding sweet potatoes, it is taboo to use chlorine-containing fertilizers. When ammonium chloride and potassium chloride exceed a certain amount, the starch content of sweet potatoes will be reduced, which is not easy to store. For chlorine fertilizer, it is recommended not to fertilize.

4. Light nitrogen fertilizer, polyphosphorus potassium fertilizer

If the nitrogen fertilizer is applied too much, it will cause the stems and leaves to grow wildly, which will increase the photosynthesis, which will consume more nutrients, resulting in insufficient nutrients in the later fruits, making the ripe fruit of the sweet potato smaller, and the yield will also decrease. , so use less nitrogen fertilizer.

Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are the opposite of nitrogen fertilizers, which can loosen the land, promote the differentiation of flowers and buds, and make the stems of sweet potatoes thicker, and then the fruit will be larger, which can greatly increase the yield.

5. Increase organic fertilizer application

The fertilizer efficiency of organic fertilizers is relatively stable and the stamina is relatively sufficient. Compared with chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers have great advantages. Applying too much fertilizer will only promote the growth and development of sweet potatoes without any side effects, while chemical fertilizers are proportional, and a little carelessness will lead to lower yields. Organic fertilizer can greatly promote the growth of roots and stems, so increasing organic fertilizer fertilization is essential.
