Fruits and vegetables with Vietnamese specialties at the International Fruit and Vegetable Technology Exhibition in Italy

The 39th Italian International Fruit and Vegetable Technology Exhibition (Macfrut) 2022 opened in the city of Rimini in the country's Emilia-Romagna region. The opening ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy, Duong Hai Hinh. 

 

This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy has cooperated with various domestic agricultural and food export enterprises to set up a Vietnamese pavilion to exhibit famous Vietnamese agricultural products such as Vietnamese tea, coffee, dried fruits and spices, attracting the attention of the majority of exhibitors, enterprises and visitors. Many Italian and European companies were interested in Vietnamese agricultural products and looking for opportunities to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises. 

 

Speaking at the Vietnamese pavilion, Ambassador Duong Hai Thang pointed out that Italy is one of the main export markets for Vietnamese agricultural products with good growth potential. The Vietnamese Embassy is working to assist Vietnamese enterprises to make full use of the benefits of the Vietnam-Europe Free Trade Agreement to promote fruit and vegetable exports to Italy and the European Union to meet consumers' demands. He also said that when participating in the show, Vietnamese enterprises have the opportunity to learn about the market supply and demand in the agricultural sector, to learn about modern and new technologies in Italy, to meet the more stringent EU standards, to further improve product quality and to find a place in the global value and supply chain. 

 

This is the second year that Vietnamese companies are present at the International Fruit and Vegetable Technology Exhibition in Italy to directly promote Vietnamese speciality fruit products to Italian companies and people. The show is also an opportunity for domestic enterprises to meet and exchange with Italian partners and learn about the most advanced technologies and agricultural machinery in the fields involving production, processing, preservation, fruit and vegetable packaging of agricultural products, various import and distribution companies and major supply chains in Italy and Europe. 

 

Fruit & Veg Technology Italia is the second largest international fruit and vegetable show in Europe. This year's show was held between May 4 and 6, with a total of 800 booths. According to statistics, the annual value of agricultural products in Europe amounts to US$160 billion, with Vietnamese agricultural products becoming a high-value export product. 2021 will see agricultural exports reach nearly US$3.5 billion.
