MOSCOW (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service said that the first shipment of Chinese oranges, weighing more than 7 tons, was shipped directly to Amur region via the "Blagoveshchensk-Heihe" land port in early October after the Russian ban was lifted.
The authorities noted that the oranges had passed the phytosanitary inspection and no quarantine substances were found in the fruit, so they were allowed to be sold freely.
The Agency suspended the import of citrus fruits from China from 6 January 2020 due to the frequent incidents of quarantine substances detected in citrus fruits by the Russian Federal Service for Animal and Plant Health Supervision. The ban on citrus fruit shipments was lifted on 3 February 2022, thanks to the joint work of the Russian and Chinese customs authorities, and in mid-July the Amur region received a 25-tonne shipment of lemons imported from China.
