The president of the Ecuadorian Flower Producers and Exporters Association, Bustamante, recently said at the opening of the Ecuadorian Flower Expo 2022 that the flower industry is expected to achieve more than US$1 billion in exports for the first time this year, despite adverse factors such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and demonstrations by indigenous peoples in Ecuador, and that exports are expected to continue to grow by 10% to 15% in 2023. Flowers will be among the top non-oil minerals exported in the country with an annual value of more than US$1 billion, after shrimp, bananas, canned fish and cocoa. The country also expects to sign more trade agreements to improve the competitiveness of its flower exports.
