DESPITE SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES, BOTH TRACTOR AND COMBINE SALES CONTINUE TO SEE GROWTH IN OCTOBER

The latest data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) reveals that both tractor and combine sales continued to see growth this month above 2020.

In the U.S., total farm tractor sales rose 4.8% in October compared with the previous year. Self-propelled combine sales climbed 72.9%. It also marks the fourth consecutive month harvester sales grew near or above 20%.

The data also revealed that sub-40 hp. tractor sales grew 4.5%. The 41- to 100-hp segment rose 4.1%. While the 100-plus-hp. category saw another increase, up 10.3%, the articulated 4WD category declined 6.3%. Year-to-date tractor sales were up 11.4%, and combine growth increased 24.4%.

October tractor and combine sales were also positive in Canada. While the sub-40 hp. segment was up 8.6%, the 4WD and combine harvester categories saw a big jump, up 48% and 44.2% respectively. Year-to-date tractor sales were up 23.4%.

“We’re pleased to see ag equipment sales remain positive, despite the very real supply chain challenges,” says Curt Blades, senior vice president of agriculture services at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. “We remain optimistic that these positive sales trends will continue along with the ongoing strength in the ag economy.”
