Cape Verdean state news agency, April 26, the African Development Bank President Adesina said on Tuesday that African wheat prices have risen by 60 percent due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and that maize and other grains will also be affected. The Russia-Ukraine conflict may cause a global food crisis, especially for Africa, as African food is mainly imported from Russia and Ukraine. Adesina also revealed that the African Development Bank has developed an emergency food plan for Africa with a budget of US$1.5 billion to avert a food crisis on the continent and to mitigate the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Africa.
