China Council For The Promotion Of International Trade Training Center Became A Core Partner Of The United Nations Procurement Project

As an important part of international public procurement, the United Nations system has been purchasing a large number of goods/services. In recent years, the total amount of procurement has continued to rise and the types have become increasingly diversified, reaching 19.9 billion US dollars in 2019. According to United Nations statistics, in 2018, "Made in China" accounted for 28% of the total output of the global manufacturing industry, and the total amount of direct purchases by the United Nations system in China was US$246 million, accounting for only 1.24% of the total. More than one third of the goods purchased by the United Nations each year are "Made in China", and these Chinese goods are mainly re-exported through third parties. The amount of direct purchases by the United Nations in China is not in line with China's international status as a major manufacturing and trading country, and there is greater potential and room for expansion.

Expanding the direct procurement of "Made in China" by UN agencies and helping companies adopt more standardized competitive methods in line with international market rules to seek diversified corporate market development. This will help Chinese companies expand the "Belt and Road" cooperation and the blue ocean of international procurement. The market promotes the transformation and upgrading of “Made in China” to “Created in China” and “Chinese Brand”. At the same time, the United Nations’ direct procurement in China will help smooth the industrial and supply chains, better reflect the comparative advantages of Chinese goods, and effectively serve the needs of United Nations agencies in peacekeeping, humanitarian relief, and development assistance projects. Contribute to the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

In the near future, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will help Chinese enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to solve the problems of “don’t know”, “will not do” and “do not do well” in the procurement of the United Nations through publicity and training. Conferences, forums, corporate capacity building, construction of cooperation networks, etc.
