Brazil's Total Grain Output Will Reach 263.4 Million Tons This Year, A New Record

Brazil's National Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released the "Agricultural Production System Survey" report on the 11th local time, predicting that Brazil's total grain output will reach 263.4 million tons this year, an increase of 4% over 2021 and a new record.

 

 

 

According to the report, the harvested area of grain crops in Brazil is expected to reach 73 million hectares this year, an increase of 6.4% from 2021.

 

 

 

Soybeans, corn and rice are the main food crops in Brazil. The harvested area of these three grain crops is expected to account for 87.1% of the total crop harvested area this year, and the output will account for 91.4% of the total grain output. Among them, the soybean sown area increased by 4.6%, the output is expected to be 118.8 million tons, a decrease of 12%; the corn sown area increased by 9.7%, the output is expected to be 111.5 million tons, an increase of 27%; the rice sown area decreased by 2.7%, and the output is expected to be 10.6 million tons, a decrease of 8.5%.

 

 

 

From a regional perspective, the grain output in the central and western regions of Brazil is expected to reach 130.4 million tons this year, accounting for 49.5% of the country's total output, ranking first. The second is the south, with an output of 66.5 million tons, accounting for 25.2% of the national total. The third is the southeast, with an output of 27.7 million tons, accounting for 10.5% of the country's total output. The northeastern and northern regions ranked fourth and fifth, with output reaching 25.5 million tons and 13.3 million tons, accounting for 9.7% and 5.1% of the country's total output, respectively.

 

 

 

The state of Mato Grosso is Brazil's largest grain-producing region. It is estimated that the state's grain output will account for 30.6% of the country's total grain output this year. This is followed by Paraná (13.4%), Goiás (10.5%), Rio Grande do Sul (9.7%), Mato Grosso do Sul (8.1%) and Minas Gerais Sri Lanka (6.7%).

 

 

 

In addition, the output of more than 10 crops in Brazil is expected to increase this year. Among them, the output of wheat increased by 23.9%, the output of cotton increased by 15.3%, the output of coffee beans increased by 8.6% and the output of barley increased by 3.4%.
